INCREDIBLE OBSERVATION PLATFORMS IN THE WORLD

Preikestolen, Norway

Prekestolen, also known by the English translations of Preacher's Pulpit or Pulpit Rock, is a famous tourist attraction in Forsand, Ryfylke, Norway. It consists of a steep cliff which rises 604 metres (1982 feet) above Lysefjorden, opposite the Kjerag plateau, with an almost flat top of approximately by 25 metres (by 82 feet). The authorities have opted not to install fencing or other safety devices as they felt it would detract from the natural beauty of the site and the fact that fatalities at the site are extremely rare, despite having approximately 200,000 visitors each year.

AlpspiX viewing platform - Between Heaven and the Höllental Valley, German

Just above the top station of the Alpspitzbahn lifts, two steel beams form a floating X over a vertical drop of almost 1,000 metres. No later than when the glazed end of the 25 metre long bridge is reached, incredulous “Wow’s” are elicited from the lips of even hardened mountaineers and climbers as they take in the unrestricted wide and deep views of the snow covered Zugspitz, Waxensteine, gigantic Alpspitz north face and down to the untamed Höllental Valley.

Aiguille du Midia - Step Into the Void, France

The cable car which starts from Chamonix (France) to the summit, the Téléphérique de l'Aiguille du Midi, was built in 1955 and held the title of the world's highest cable car for about two decades. Langkawi Sky Bridge, Malaysia

The Langkawi Sky Bridge is located at the ‘end’ of the Cable Car ride. One of the island’s highlights, it is a 410ft-long curved pedestrian bridge above Mount Mat Cinchang. It may sound like a cliché but it is really true – the views from here are simply stunning – great for those Kodak moments!

Grand Canyon Skywalk, USA
